Get Your Indoor Air Quality Tested

Posted on: 28 April 2018

When you think about air quality, you generally think about outside and what kind of allergens or particulates there are in the air. You probably don't think about the air quality on the inside of the building. After all, air is air inside, right and it should be pretty pure right? Well, that's not always the case. There are times when you may have problems with your indoor air quality. You may have pets, so that pet dander gets circulated. Or, your business may handle things which put out fumes and particulates. When you are concerned about your air quality, there are things that you can do.

Testing

One thing you can do is to have a company come in and do so air quality testing for you. They will check out the air quality in several places in the building as well as at various times of the day. That way they are going to be able to give you the best snapshot of air quality of your building is. The report you get from the testing company should also tell you what remediation techniques you should try as well as what the contaminants are.

Cleaning Company

After you have had the air quality testing done, you can hire a cleaning service to come in and do the remediation work for you so that your quality gets better. For example, if the testing shows that you have a lot of mold spores in your air samples, then the cleaning company you hire is going to have to do things like making sure that they can block off the area with the mold from the rest of the structure. That's because when they are cleaning the mold up, spores can spread throughout the structure and then get a foothold in other places. If the structure has black mold, then you may have to leave while the cleaning company does the remediation work because you don't want to get that into your lungs, since it can cause significant respiratory problems, and when the cleaning company is working on it, they will have to wear masks and possibly other protective clothing so that no spores are spread.

You should possibly be more concerned about indoor air quality than you are about outside air quality because you are going to spend a lot more time inside than you do outside. So, if you are worried about the air quality, you should make sure that you get it tested and do some remediation.
